Tropical Storm Ida Tuesday 7 a.m. Update
Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 a.m.
Good news – Tropical Storm Ida appears to have minimal effects on the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast.
At 5:40 a.m. the center of Ida made landfall at Dauphin Island with maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour. Since the winds never reached over 45 miles per hour no bridges were closed in Alabama or Florida. Each tropical system has its own unique characteristics and Tropical Storm Ida is unusual because the center and backside of the storm is virtually without rain. It is possible that we will actually see sunshine today on the Gulf Coast.
Early reports from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach indicate no significant issues; however there are some road closures due to water over the road. Our inspection teams will begin property visits this morning, in all accessible areas, to determine any concerns that need to be addressed.
